Recipe for Gourmet hotdogs
Ingredients
- 3 dl room-temperature water
- 1 dl milk
- 50 g yeast
- 0.50 dl olive oil
- 1 egg
- 200 g graham flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.50 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 450 g plain flour
- 1 egg, for brushing
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Fillings for Hotdogs
- 12 frankfurters
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Kimchi Kraut
- Red cabbage Kraut
- Fresh thyme
- 2 onions, for fried onions
- Salt
- Pepper
- Butter
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water, then add the milk, oil and egg. Mix the graham flour, salt, cardamom and sugar together and stir into the yeast mixture. Stir in the plain flour and knead until the dough is supple.
- Leave the dough to rise in a bowl for 40 minutes. Shape into 12 oblong hotdog buns. Use a little oil on the worktop and your hands instead of flour when kneading, so the buns do not become dry.
- Leave the hotdog buns to rise on a baking tray lined with baking paper for 30 minutes, brush with beaten egg and finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Bake the buns in a preheated fan oven at 175 degrees for 15-18 minutes.
- Peel and halve the onions. Then cut them into thin slices. Melt the butter in a pan over a fairly high heat and add the onions. Stir as they fry. Then add sugar and a little water, and fry the onions until soft. This takes approximately 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper, and serve immediately straight from the pan.
- Fry the sausages in the pan and, once ready, remove them from the pan and place them in the warm, freshly baked buns.
- Then add the fillings to your gourmet hotdog. Remember the fried onions, ketchup, mustard and your preferred Kraut.
- Enjoy!
